Cecil Court, London

No wands sold to muggles*, but books, maps, antiques... yes!

(* Cecil Court was the inspiration for Diagon Alley, JK Rowling, Harry Potter.)

Google's "Streetview" is an amazing resource... but, sadly, as far as I know, streets a vehicle can pass down are included. So here's "a candle in the darkness" for Cecil Court in London, a pedestrianized street with some history, and some great shops. (Link will take you to Wikipedia's entry, in a new tab or window.)

We start from Charing Cross Road, just above the National Portrait Gallery above Trafalgar Square, just below Leicester Square Tube Station, at the western end of Cecil Court. You can see that in Google Maps, in a new tab or window. Just close the tab to get back here.

Now, we proceed eastwards, looking to left and to right, as we go along the pedestrianized street....

Street numbers/ Shops in the street...

The shops on the northern side have the even numbers, from 24 at the western end, to 2 at the eastern end.
The shops on the southern side have the odd numbers, from 27 at the western end, to 3 at the eastern end.

Shops in Cecil Court

The following is a list of who was in Cecil Court, 29 September, 2014. I will go down the street from the west end to the east, and list the shops on the south side, and then repeat the process, doing the shops on the north side. Numbers are the street numbers, well displayed on almost every shop. (Can ambulances or fire engines find YOUR house in YOUR street? You probably will want them to be able to do so quickly, should the day come. Well displayed numbers help!)

First shop, South West end... (after "Formal Wear", on the corner.....)

And now for, from west to east, the north side....

First shop, North West end... (after "Byron", on the corner....)

Message to proprietors in Cecil Court:

a) I'm not trying to sell you anything!

b) I need to keep this simple.

Perhaps I could extend the small directory above along the following lines. (The example is what I would do for my own software enterprise, IF it had premises at "100 Cecil Court", which it doesn't. It is merely here as a sample of the sort of simple listing which I hope might be useful, without being too difficult to manage... I.e. just a few lines... address & name// website link// line or two to say what the business sells// indication of information's currency, and how long the business has been in Cecil Court. Should there be more? Less? (As a possible extension, for sometime in the future, I thought maybe also a link to an image of the shop's window, in a standard size/ format/ etc? (Standard to keep things simple and fair)
